A rather surprising experience for me
that the friendliest Thais I should meet were mostly in Bangkok (although
I should add that some of that friendliness was clearly to try to help
stear me into shops to help family members or friends make money off
me). I'm not a huge fan of Asian city architecture. It seems largely
to be a question of pragmatism rather than beauty. In fact, urban aesthetics
often seems overlooked in much of Asian (probably with the exception
of Japan). The beaches on the islands, on the other hand, were spectacular
(though it should be noted these pictures were taken before the Tsunami). |
